The International Association for Political Science Students (IAPSS) is a platform for political science students and students interested in political science issues. The Association is international, politically independent, non-profit and student-run, and aims to have global impact in the political science sphere. Providing its members with knowledge, information and skills regarding current matters in the field of political science and their approach, IAPSS seeks to play a role in the lives of Political Science students in the world.

Call for Candidatures

The ExCom presents the Call for Candidates for the positions in IAPSS for the mandate October 2008 – September 2009. The elections will take place at the General Assembly in Thessaloniki (10th of May). For those of you who are interested, it is important you send us e-mail as soon as possible because only then can we give you the possibility to improve your skills by participating at the Leadership Summer School, which is being organized for those who will steer the InternationalStudents Organisations. The deadline for the Leadership Summer School is the 15th of April but priority will be given to the first ones who will show their interest.

IAPSS Conference in Peru

Unveiling Peru: The Hidden War

 

Location: Lima, Peru

Anticipated date: 15. 2. 2009 – 25. 2. 2009

Estimated number of participants: 50 - 70

 

Brief Description:

 

The project aims to address human rights violations that took place during the past two decades in Peru. Participants will first attend general a course on human rights (from various aspects), and then work on a more specific topic in frames of their chosen module. Participants are expected to work on the topic prior to their arrival to Peru. They will be provided with material (articles, essays, etc.), proposed by lecturers, but they will also need to search for additional sources. A forum will be established for the needs of this project, where participants and others will be able to exchange opinions and knowledge among each other. The actual course in Peru should serve as an upgrade of written sources and basic knowledge obtained prior to course; participants will there have a possibility to speak with representatives of NGOs, indigenous communities, activists etc. Preferably they will already have some concrete idea on how to contribute to the project while staying in Peru. In frames of the module they will be required to produce articles, reportage, do interviews etc. according to their choice and in consultation with the coordinator of chosen module. In the end, they will present their work in panels and discussions to the other participants and those interested in it. The Work of the participants will be put together and published in a booklet that will be distributed to everybody involved in the project, but also to libraries, NGOs, universities...

IAPSS as well as its academic potential. This is why the ExCom is launching the Call for Organizers of the
2008 Annual Academic Conference.
