Call for Applications:

Deputy Editor-in-Chief of A Different View

Deadline: 15 February 2017.

The International Association for Political Science Students is hereby launching a Call for Applications for the position of Deputy Editor-in-Chief of its academic blog A Different View (ADV).

The Deputy Editor-in-Chief is, in cooperation with the Editor-in-Chief, responsible for running the academic blog. The blog operates within the IAPSS Academic Department.

ADV is the popular-scientific blog of IAPSS. As one of the largest student-run blogs, ADV publishes articles dealing with all facets of political theory, foreign policy and international relations, among others. While ADV provides analytical and up-to-date commentary of political issues around the world as well as recent developments in the field of political science, it is not just limited to academia but extends to real-world developments and crises. IAPSS envisions ADV as a place for discussions and free flow of ideas, and an avenue where readers can gain a better understanding of cross-cultural affairs and how politics deeply affects the interactions between and among states as well as individuals.

With a diverse pool of authorship, ADV is an important platform for political science enthusiasts, one which enables and facilitates the sharing of opinions on different issues. ADV is a very much formidable platform for exchanging ideas and perspectives, improving academic writing skills and making convincing points of view about various subjects of utmost importance.

A suitable candidate for the position of Deputy Editor-in-Chief is required to:

– be a student enrolled in a Master’s or PhD programme in one of the fields of political science, international relations, public policy or a related discipline, or an early stage academic/professional in one of these fields (or related fields) with a graduate degree

– have experience with writing (popular) scientific blogs/short articles

Furthermore, the position demands:

– dedication to the job;
– an excellent command of the English language;
– a professional level of communication;
– capacity to meet deadlines.

Current or past membership in the ADV Authorial Board is not a requirement.

The position is – as all other positions within IAPSS – unpaid and extends for the duration of two years, i.e. until March 2019.

In addition, occupying the position implies that you are a member of IAPSS at the moment of your installment and during your whole term as Deputy Editor-in-Chief. Therefore, if you are not already a member you will be required to apply for membership in case of acceptance.

If you would like to apply, please, send us your CV (max. 2 pages) alongside a 1-page letter of motivation to adifferentview@iapss.org until 15 February 2017.

Please do not hesitate to contact us in case of further questions or inquiries.

Kind regards
