for the position of

Social Media Coordinator

of the International Association of Political Science Students (IAPSS)

The International Association for Political Science Students is launching a Call for Applications for Social Media Coordinator. The Social Media Coordinator is a position within the IAPSS Department of Public Relations and International Cooperation. There are currently three other coordinators at this department; Media Coordinator, Fundraising Coordinator and Membership Campaign Coordinator.

The responsibilities of the IAPSS Department of Public Relations and International Cooperation are quite diverse and include fundraising activities, social media management, IAPSS promotion, social media coverage and membership campaigns.

Therefore, the Social Media Coordinator will be in charge of various tasks related to the public outreach of the Association. He or she will work alongside the Media Coordinator and his or her responsibilities will include the following tasks:

  • Maintenance and management of the social media devices in accordance with the current social media strategy;
  • Development of the IAPSS social media presence with regards to promotion strategies;
  • Development of new communication and promotion strategies.
  • A high degree of responsibility, motivation, self-initiative and dedication, combined with reliability and flexibility with regards to the work in a highly international environment with a strong intercultural competence;
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language (spoken and written);
  • Current or recent enrolment in a political science or related programme (of any educational level incl. undergraduate or graduate studies or a PhD position);
  • Strong communication skills with an extensive understanding of the various facets of public relations and digital means of communication, as well as creativity and innovation;
  • Experience in and willingness to work with a high degree of organizational and conceptual freedom, but committed to adhere to work-related frameworks.
It is also beneficial if candidates have:
  • Experience with social media management;
  • Experience with organizational promotion.
IAPSS Membership

Occupying the position implies that you are a member of IAPSS at the moment of your instalment and the whole duration of the position. If you are not a member yet, you need to become a member if you are appointed for this position. IAPSS membership embraces a wide range of benefits and services and comes at a student-friendly rate of either 10 or 15 EUR per year depending on your country of origin. Discounted rates are available for two-year memberships.

As all positions in the IAPSS Board, the position of the IAPSS Social Media Coordinator is unpaid and executed based on a signed Volunteering Agreement. Expected workload is around 8-10 hours per week.

Executive Committee
The Executive Committee is the executive body of the association. It consists of the President, Secretary-General, Treasurer, Head of the Academic Department, Head of the Events Department, Head of World Congress, Head of Convention and Head of the International Cooperation & Public Relations Department. Members are normally elected to this body at the General Assembly, taking place in April each year.
