Call for Applications
IAPSS CLASS members at the ‘Introduction to Political Science’ course program

Deadline to apply: 23 September 2018 (new!)

In cooperation with the Federica Weblearning Center, the International Association for Political Science Students (IAPSS) is launching a Call for Applications for members of the IAPSS CLASS at the Introduction to Political Science massive open online course (MOOC) program, offered jointly by the Federica Center and the International Political Science Association (IPSA).

This MOOC program is the first comprehensive introduction to Political Science, taught by several renowned scholars in the discipline, and available remotely to participants via the interactive course platform edX. The program contains five courses, covering research design & methods, concept formation, the fundamentals of comparative politics, democracy studies and international relations. Each course has a workload of 4-6 hours per week. While the program is open to individual participants, there are several unique opportunities entailed in joining it as member of the IAPSS CLASS:

  1. While IAPSS CLASS members will have to initially cover the program fee, the whole fee will be reimbursed upon successful accomplishment of the program and, consequently, the program certificate will be awarded without any expenses for the program for the participants.
  2. IAPSS CLASS members will receive each other’s contacts and will have opportunities to interact with each other besides the standard ones offered by program.
  3. IAPSS CLASS members will be added to the internal mailing list reserved for IAPSS Board members and IAPSS Academic Department affiliates, thus receiving access to several offers not provided to all IAPSS members.
  4. Upon successful accomplishment of the program, IAPSS CLASS members will be offered, with the support of the Federica Center, a reimbursement of travel and accommodation expenses (budget-allowing) for an upcoming IAPSS conference.[1]

To this end, the applicants are required to provide:

  1. A curriculum vitae, focusing on the academic experience of the applicant;
  2. A declaration that the applicant possesses sufficient funds to cover the costs for the program (to be reimbursed upon its successful accomplishment).

Both documents are to be sent by September 23, 2018 via e-mail as a single PDF file to AND

An individual IAPSS membership is required from all successful applicants. Please find an overview of the wide range of services and benefits of IAPSS membership, and the online application form here. In addition, an honest declaration of the seriousness of their commitment to the program will need to be provided upon acceptance. Members of the IAPSS CLASS agree with being featured in promotional material of IAPSS and/or the Federica Center.

Please do not hesitate to contact us via AND in case of further questions or inquiries.

We look forward to your applications!

On behalf of the IAPSS Executive Committee
